Sample Itinerary

Day 1

During the day: Breathe in that fresh Montana air.

Arriving at Missoula International Airport, you’re greeted by our staff. You and your attendees are provided with personalized ground transportation—a scenic 35-minute drive—to The Resort. Each attendee is checked in inside their luxury accommodations, and lunch is served in Trough, our on-property casual dining restaurant.

You’re checked in inside your luxury accommodations, and lunch is served in Trough, our on-property casual dining restaurant. Afterwards, you can either head out to the Sky Line™ Aerial Adventure Park or relax and catch up with each other out on the deck.

In the evening: Get a taste of life on the ranch.

Have a relaxing meal in a space reserved exclusively for your family or friends. A private dinner in Trough makes for a great first night together, with home-cooked flavors mingling on your palette. The menu might include fresh trout, bison tenderloin, locally sourced seasonal veggies and succulent pies. Toast to each other with wine flights and locally distilled spirits. After dinner, move out onto The Yard and enjoy fireside s’mores under a sky full of stars.

Day 2

During the day: Go for a ride … and smile!

Whether you’re an early riser or someone who pulls the blanket over your head to catch a few extra z’s, a fresh breakfast is there for you at Trough. This morning’s adventure, an ATV tour, has you kicking up dust with your crew as you take in the scenery all around.

The afternoon allows for a little downtime before saddling up for a trail ride. You wander through fragrant pines, winding up at a beautiful spot to stop for a group picture with our resort photographer.

In the evening: Experience what life was like long ago.

Welcome to the Wild West—an honest-to-goodness chuck wagon dinner on the shores of the famous Blackfoot River. Our chuck wagon chef puts out a spread that would have made cowboys say “Yee-haw!” 150 years ago. You and your cohort dine on tangy and juicy tomahawk steaks, Dutch-oven baked beans and fresh local fruit cobbler—or maybe you’ll opt for a whole roasted pig. To mellow things out, enjoy music with a banjo player and, you guessed it, a cowboy poet.

Day 3

During the day: Whip up a little action and adventure.

It’s hard to resist the Hutterite pork sausage at breakfast. Have a link (or three), then double-lace your sneakers to prepare for the Sky Line™ Aerial Adventure Park. Its final big 55-foot jump is an exhilarating finish to your morning.

After lunch, spend the afternoon letting your competitive edge shine in a sporting clays tournament. Or if that’s not your game, settle in for some spa time before heading over to the Wilderness Outpost for a trunk show and a little retail therapy.

In the evening: Make some history of your own.

Host a spectacular get-together in our elegantly restored Bull Barn. It begins with a reception offering signature cocktails crafted from locally made spirits. Then you ascend the spiral staircase to the Great Angus Hall. Roast elk? Fresh rainbow trout? Black Angus steaks? Whatever you’ve chosen, it’s meticulously prepared and paired with the perfect wines. The evening ends with Montana line dancing, followed by fireworks and s’mores around a fire out on the nearby yard.

Day 4

During the day: Head out for some chills and spills.

After a bountiful breakfast, hop back in time to experience the Gold Rush. Just a 20-minute drive from The Resort, the whole group explores the hauntingly quiet streets of Garnet, Montana’s best-preserved ghost town. For the trip back, some opt for mountain biking, while others catch a ride.

Then the afternoon is spent on the Blackfoot River. Depending on the season and the weather, that could mean a lazy river float or a white-knuckle, whitewater adventure.

In the evening: Create the perfect scene.

Does your group share a particular passion? The River Bend is the ideal spot to build a magical dining experience that brings it to life. Stage your own Midsummer Night’s Dream as you dine on a Montana Long Table. Start the evening with a drum circle and finish with a campfire sing-along. Protected by trees in a picturesque clearing beside the Blackfoot River, you’ll watch the sun setting through the branches as your family or friends let loose in a way only you can imagine.

Day 5

During the day: Reconnect with your inner child.

We find there are morning people, and there are morning axe-throwing people. Either way, breakfast is a joy as you take turns learning how to survive in the wilderness while sipping fresh squeezed OJ just outside Trough. You can also take part in an abstract art class or a photography workshop.

Later, you race to your heart’s content on the ½-mile go-kart track. But wear your helmets; these gas-powered machines reach speeds of up to 20 miles per hour.

In the evening: Corral your group for an unforgettable event.

Montana’s premier equestrian center—the Saddle Club at Paws Up—becomes the setting for an unforgettable dinner-and-show experience. Kick things off in the riding arena with custom rodeo events chosen just for your group. Cocktails are served! And as the arena activities wind down, a feast awaits, featuring ranch delicacies flavored with locally foraged herbs. You can either sit down to enjoy it in the Tack Room or load up on small bites while mingling inside the Sky Box.

Day 6

During the day: Have a private island all to yourselves.

Now that you’ve seen much of the ranch, it’s time to go jump in a lake. Only 15 minutes away, the idyllic Paws Up Island Lodge is situated in one of the most picturesque high-mountain glacier lakes in America. There, you can spend the day kayaking, sailing, waterskiing, jet skiing and jumping on the floating trampoline.

Sink your teeth into a delicious island cuisine served al fresco on the wrap-around deck. Be sure to get in a boat cruise exploring Salmon Lake.

In the evening: Revel in a picture-perfect ending.

Gently spiked lemonade and signature island cocktails are following by a group dining experience unmatched anywhere. Get tips on outdoor cooking as you chat with our master BBQ chefs. Let the sky take center stage as blue turns to pinks and oranges. Soon stars begin to sparkle in the ink-black space above. Learn the art of s’more making from our resident s’moreologist. Share stories from the week around a crackling bonfire, with live music in the background.

Day 7

During the day: Soak it all in one last time.

Take a few extra moments on your private deck to watch the fog lift, revealing little ground squirrels scurrying about. It’s a travel day, so be sure to hit the fresh juice bar at breakfast. Complimentary ground transfers begin early to Missoula International Airport.

Those departing later can relax in our Bunkhouse hospitality suite, post photos by the fire at Tank or get in some shopping at the Wilderness Outpost. There are treasures there you won’t find anywhere else.
