Luxury in the Wild: What It’s Like to Go Glamping in Montana

Luxury in the Wild: What It’s Like to Go Glamping in Montana

Put on your boots, breathe in the mountain air, and discover a place where time slows and presence comes naturally. At Paws Up Montana, glamping isn’t just sleeping under canvas – it’s about embracing the spirit of the American West in absolute comfort.

Here, luxury exists without walls, and connection amplifies under open skies – just beyond your tent flap. Days unfold with an easy rhythm: a trail ride through open meadows, a float down the Blackfoot River, and a return to your safari-style glamping tent, where a cozy featherbed, heated floors, and a sky full of stars await.

At Paws Up, glamping is anything but “roughing it.”

Montana Glamping at Its Finest

Spread across 37,000 acres of Montana wilderness, Paws Up redefines what it means to go glamping. From mid-May to mid-October, guests can stay in six luxury tented camps, each with its own connection to the land. Some overlook the legendary Blackfoot River, while others sit high on scenic bluffs or tucked among whispering pines.

Each glamping tent is both rustic and refined, featuring Western-chic design, king-size beds, Montana-sized rain showers, soaking tubs, climate control, electricity, and private decks that open to stunning nature views. The scent of pine, the sound of birdsong, and the feeling of the wide-open West are never far away.

Every camp has a dedicated butler and private chef, ensuring that outdoor living feels both effortless and extraordinary. Whether it’s a fireside cocktail or a perfectly grilled bison tenderloin, every detail feels crafted just for you.

Immersed in Nature, Defined by Place

Beyond the comforts of camp lies a landscape alive with history and soul. Set on a historic working cattle ranch, Paws Up is where Western heritage and natural beauty meet.

With over 100 miles of trails and 10 miles of the Blackfoot River, adventure is waiting for you. Join wranglers at sunrise, learn the art of Cow Croquet, and gather by the fire at dusk – where conversation, laughter, and starlight linger into the night.

Every moment feels timeless, and every experience feels authentically Montana.

The Six Camps of Paws Up

Each camp has its own unique personality and setting. Tents sleep two to six guests, making them perfect for a romantic getaway or gatherings with families, friends, and groups – you can even reserve an entire camp. Get to know what sets each glamping camp apart to find your perfect stay:

Moonlight Camp sits near Lewis & Clark’s historic Lookout Rock for picturesque views and an easy stroll to the Blackfoot River.

River Camp rests beachside right on the Blackfoot for spotting fish in the early morning or an evening float at sunset.

Pinnacle Camp, perched high above the confluence of the Blackfoot River and Elk Creek, features a romantic honeymoon tent with a copper soaking tub. Other tents offer jetted tubs in their master ensuite bathrooms.

Cliffside Camp sits high on timbered bluffs for breathtaking panoramas that make you feel like you’re on top of the world.

North Bank Camp boasts quiet seclusion as the only camp on the river’s north shore, where every tent enjoys a river view.

Creekside Camp offers tranquility near the banks of Elk Creek for those seeking stillness and the soothing sounds of nature.

Camp Dining at Paws Up

Each camp’s Dining Pavilion sets the stage for a culinary experience worth savoring. A dedicated chef prepares hearty breakfasts and gourmet dinners, think cast-iron breakfasts, locally caught trout, Montana steak, and huckleberry crumble, all served al fresco. Glamping guests can also enjoy Chuckwagon dinners accompanied by live music, as well as upscale indoor dining and fine wine at our restaurants.

And when the plates are cleared, the night continues around a glowing firepit – the place to be for gooey s’mores, stories, and stargazing.

Adventure With Ease

Whether you’re saddling up for a cattle drive, trying your hand at Montana fly fishing, or testing your aim at sporting clays, our in-house guides make every experience seamless and memorable.

Prefer a slower pace? Hike a quiet trail, float the river, settle by the fire with a good book, or unwind at Spa Town, where a boardwalk leads to open-air treatment tents set in a meadow for wellness in the wilderness.

No matter how you choose to spend time, getting around is effortless. Complimentary shuttles are available to take you anywhere on the property. For those who wish to explore beyond the ranch, a rental car makes it easy to discover nearby towns and scenic drives. Most guests, however, find that everything they need is already right here.

Why Glamping at Paws Up is Different

As Montana’s original luxury glamping resort, Paws Up continues to set the bar for wilderness hospitality, offering more Western adventures and activities than any other ranch resort in the state. Still a working cattle ranch, the experience is rooted in authenticity, where the grit of the American West meets high-end service.

Every stay is all-inclusive, no matter which accommodations you choose.

Glamping guests enjoy gourmet meals, snacks, wine and beer, airport transfers to/from Missoula International Airport, on-demand property transportation, and access to resort amenities like the 24/7 gym, outdoor games, self-guided activities and equipment, and Wi-Fi, for all-inclusive glamping in Montana.

And because Paws Up is a gratuity-free resort, there’s no need to calculate tips – genuine warmth and hospitality are simply part of the experience.
