From running Les Deux Cafes in Los Angeles to becoming a James Beard Award finalist with her first cookbook, Sweet, Valerie Gordon’s culinary journey has been filled with tasty delights and self-taught discoveries. She cofounded her namesake confectionery in 2004 and is now one of the top artisan chocolatiers in the country. Her excellence has been widely recognized, with appearances on the Food Network’s The Best Thing I Ever Ate and Bravo’s Top Chef: Just Desserts among others. She was also at the 2018 Pebble Beach Food & Wine Festival, along with Paws Up Executive Chef Sunny Jin.

Recently, Gordon has been inspired by L.A.’s best underground barbecues. She now feeds her passion for concocting new things by making her desserts over an open flame, which imparts unique flavors as only BBQ can. Among her specialties are skillet brownies and grilled cherry clafouti (sounds like a perfect match for local Montana cherries).
