James Beard Award 2019 Best Chef: Midwest finalist Chef Michael Corvino owns the uber-popular Kansas City, Missouri restaurant Corvino Supper Club & Tasting Room. His contemporary American cuisine, described as an interplay of seasonal farm-to-table ingredients, juxtaposes texture, flavor, shape and color. Before he opened the Supper Club, Corvino was executive chef at the iconic The American restaurant in Kansas City. Corvino also opened the culinary operations in the Nines luxury hotel in Portland, where he was the executive sous chef for both its restaurants, Departure and Urban Farmer. Other positions included stints as chef de cuisine at the Ritz-Carlton in Naples, Florida, and the Peninsula in Chicago. Corvino began his culinary career at the Marcus Whitman Hotel in his hometown of Walla Walla, Washington.
