A Watercolor Field Sketching Experience

Drawn to Montana

Artist in residency with Christine Garrison

Embrace the awe of Montana from the smallest details at your feet to the sweeping open prairies and towering pines. When you create in place, all of your senses come alive: the song of the meadowlarks overhead, the bubble of the Blackfoot River, the scent of pine on the breeze, the changing light across the endless sky. This guided field sketching experience invites guests of all skill levels to slow down, look closely, and connect with a place in a way that little else can. One unhurried mark at a time.

Your artist guide will shape the experience around your interests and pace, whether you’re picking up a pencil for the first time or looking to deepen an existing practice.

About Christine Garrison

Christine Garrison is an artist and visual arts instructor whose work is rooted in a deep sense of place and the restorative calm of natural environments. Now based in Western Montana, she draws inspiration from the region’s sweeping landscapes, quiet rivers, and the grounding presence of water, an enduring focus in her painting practice. A native of Oregon’s Willamette Valley with years spent in Minnesota and New England, Christine’s current work reflects her continued exploration of belonging, memory, and the way land and water shape how we see ourselves in the world.

Christine holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Studio Art and Arts Education from Saint Olaf College and a Graduate Degree in Arts Education from Boston University, where she completed drawing and painting coursework in Venice, Italy. Alongside her studio practice, she has taught secondary visual arts for nearly two decades in Minnesota, Oregon, and New Hampshire.
