The Resort

Accolades

A generous honeymoon gift from some very dear friends...crisp, cold, and refreshing mountain air in the wide open spaces of Montana. Plenty of history and lots of rugged outdoor stuff...but also from a woman's perspective...absolutely romantic!

Service and hospitality are outstanding. We were greeted at the Missoula Montana airport with a chauffeured SUV complete with snacks and beverages to drive us to the resort less than an hour away. Our guide answered all our questions about the local history, economy, and almost anything else we could think of.

Our lodging, the Bunyan Bug, is in a word, grand. A large fireplace in a spaceous and well furnished living room is overlooked by the upstairs loft. Let's go up there first...The spaceous loft has a 42" plasma entertainment system. The back half of the loft had a bedroom with two queen size beds behind glass french doors.

Back downstairs, in the open living room, is a second identical entertainment system. Plenty of comfortable places to sit, including on the floor in front of the fire place. The kitchen was stocked with a fridge full of assorted beverages. On the counter, timed for our arrival, was everything we needed for a hearty dinner. Gift baskets were provided as the resort restaurants were closed for Thanksgiving. There was more food than two people could eat. Oh yes, and the best homemade pumpkin pie ever! Move down the hallway to the bathroom with a whirlpool bath, heated stone floors, and heated towel rack - very nice touch! Across the hall is a utility room complete with laundry facilities. This was also the easiest access to the hot tub on the private deck. Spacious enough for six, the hot tub was also secluded from other guests on the resort.

Back inside...the master bedroom has a third entertainment system! The king size bed here, and in the other main floor bedroom is so comfortable! Guest services will send someone around to 'turn down' the bed for you when you're ready to climb in. A nice touch, reading lights, on each side. Off of the master bedroom is another bathroom facility complete with double-headed showers, dual copper wash basins, and yes, heated stone floors. A deck on the front side of the house has lots of seating, including a rocking love seat. The backside deck of course has the hot tub.

If you want excellent food, call for a ride! Paws Up takes you everywhere you need to go on the resort. The breakfast/lunch restaurant and the main dining room serve an excellent variety of food.

Our stay was very brief, so we didn't participate in many of the activities. The wagon ride at sunset was a pleasant way to meet other guests. Watching a full moon rise over a Montana mountainside is spectacular! Wildlife is everywhere...a bald eagle perched by its nest, deer and elk helping themselves to the horses' hay. Not just wildlife, domesticated animals - horses, cattle, dogs, and Arnold the cat....

The return trip to Missoula Airport, once again in a chauffeured SUV complete with snacks brought us back to reality all too soon. We must say, this was a remarkable way of beginning our new life together; this is a most enchanting place! We hope to enjoy Paws Up again some day!
